Escape to Pico and Faial for 3 days
View and/or climb the highest point Portugal, the highest elevation in the mid-Atalntic ridge (Pico Mountain) and experience the heart of Azorean whale watching.

A morning flight from PDL takes you to the island of Pico. Pico and Faial are in the “Central Group” of Azores.

Check in to B&B in the whaling village of Lajes. The heart of Azorian (past whale industry) whale watching, dolphins and dolphin swimming.
Days 1-3 to include: (weather dependent)
Option 1 - Climb Pico Mountain

Pico is at 7,300 feet high. Its a hike (medium/easy level) of 3 hours

Option 2 - The Vineyards of Pico
-
Short drive brings you to trailhead for a walk through the UNESCO-preserved vineyards to the coastal village of Lajido. The vineyards of Pico are simply amazing—enclosed in thousands of stone walls constructed out of the black volcanic basaltic rock. Lajido is the home to exceptionally unique wine-making museums. Short drive to private adega for a typical lunch of fresh bread, linguiça and chouriço (chorizo sausage), taste a variety of the best of Pico cheeses, and of course, the best homemade wines.

Boat crossing to Faial Island. Arriving in historic Horta, Faial’s largest town
-
Drive to Caldeira Natural Reserve, the extinct volcanic crater at the center of the island, also designated a “Protection Zone Site”
-
Short hike along the crater’s rim. This scenic ridge walk starts and ends at the “Miradouro da Caldeira” scenic view point. Throughout you are rewarded with views of the fields and forests of Faial, open ocean, and the majestic Pico Mountain across the channel.

Zodiac trip to view the rugget volcanic coast and beautiful waterfalls along the coast of Flores.

Cross one of the healthiest ocean habitats in the world, the mid atlantic ridge, as we make our way to the island of Corvo - migration route to many marine mammals. With excellent opportunities for close encounters with several species of whales and dolphins. The waters in azores are considered the best habitat in the world for marine mammals with more than 20 species identified.

Finish your stay in Corvo by meandering the quaint streets of the only village on the island - / swim and snorkel on waters teaming with sea-life
